So, this bike was originally bought in 1995. It was a Trek Aluminum MTB with Shimano STR-X Groupo and Rock Shox Quadra 21 fork. It broke. They gave me a new frame. I bought some new stuff (LX with Judy Shox!!!). Mal then reversed that bike into a tree. It broke. The insurance bought me a new bike. Fuel 98. Awesome. Full Carbon, full suspension. I loved that bike. It broke. They replaced it. I loved it. I thought it was time for a new one. I bought a Fuel EX 9.8. I loved that bike even more. It broke. I was back on the 98 again. It broke. I waited. I was not hopeful. I rang the shop. Yep, they had sent me a new frame. Yep, it was pretty good. How good I said? They said “really good”. How good is really good? 2010 Top Fuel 9.9SSL. Holy Crap I said. You will have to buy some new parts. No problem. I saw a nice SRAM XX groupo on sale. I went back to riding the Fuel EX while I waited for the groupo. I was hopeful I could ride the 9.9 in the Punishment. The week before Punishment I dropped the EX in for some new pads, chain etc. Matt, they said. Yes I said. This ones broken too. Crap I said. Lets put the EX groupo on the 9.9 so you can race. Good I said.
Upshot. Bike rack now includes 1x Top Fuel 9.9 and am waiting on the new EX 9.8. Â Love those bikes.
