Thanks to all for the help and encouragement in actually getting me  to a level where I could compete in such an event, thanks for all the times you’ve had to wait for me.
James put in a sterling amount of work for us in trailbuilding, we should all  probably all do more next year.
What’s that saying : How many hours did you ride on the trails last year, how many hours did you spend maintaining them (?)
Notable events : There weren’t many. That was the overall 4 x team performance
– Greggy’s massive power: busting his rear wheel out of whack on the first lap but still winning.
– Ash running fastest night lap of the group.
– Coach getting out there and riding with his busted shoulder.
Everyone stayed cool as a cucumber.
Me ? Well I need more attention to my transitions. 2 minutes here, 3 minutes there….. doh ! I had no idea we’d be in contention for a podium . My last lap was a 62:30 inc 10 sec transition…which was about avg for the riding component  my laps.  I probably had 3 more laps in me before my body gave out. I flogged myself for that sort of time and Alwyn walks off a 9 hour  plane ride and pulls a ’58 ?!
My lessons :
– goto transition with a big jacket or poncho with everything on, from gloves to lights BEFORE Â your rider comes in.
– how to get round people on ST fast. Â No need to wait for the perfect opportunity. Riding someone’s arse for any distance is also unpleasant for them. Take no prisoners doing it , do it fast, as you would kill a butterfly if you had to. Â But be nice.
