Some of us went out and started the 3 hour race in Kowen. Bleeksie, Ashley, Libby, Coach.
The start was down a fire road, with 300 or so riders competing for a good start position, of course we started some way back and that didn’t help us on the first couple of laps.
We were forced to cruise the single tracks and smash it on the fire trails to pass people, after a couple of laps we had gained a good number of positions, but may never recover from the early traffic.
I wasn’t too happy with my lower back even before the race and of course it went bad at about 1:40hr mark, then every turn in the single tracks started to hurt and be off balance, so I decided to pull the pin.
Ashley wasn’t far behind me and took up the reins for the 3FIDI team. Libby did well if it wasn’t for a flat tyre on lap two. Coach rode consistent, a little back from Ash and slowed his last lap down to meet the 3 hour cut-off exactly…. nice work 🙂
Update: They missed counted one of Libby’s laps, so she is 1st in her category!!!!
Results:
- Libby: 1st Female 40+ (86 overall) – 9 laps 3:14:12
- Ashley: 4th Male 40+ (33 overall) – 10 laps 3:08:37 (2 seconds off 3rd)
- Coach: 23rd Male 40+ (106 overall) – 8 laps 2:50:38
- Bleeksie: 41st Male 40+ (186 overall) – 5 laps 1:33:34
Nice vid Bleeksie. Damn, missed out on 3rd by 2 seconds!!!
